Your adventure to the desert’s gateway begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakesh at 8:00 AM. Your driver/guide will then set off towards Ouarzazate.
Our first stop will be at the Ait Berka village, situated at the foothills of the High Atlas mountain range, offering a glimpse into traditional rural life. From there, we continue our ascent towards the summit of the Tizi N-Tichka Pass, the highest mountain pass in Morocco at 2,260 meters above sea level. Be prepared for beautiful landscapes and impressive panoramic views of the rugged peaks and valleys.
Next, we will make a detour to visit the historic Talouet Kasbah, also known as the Kasbah of El Glaoui, a former palace that offers a fascinating look into the region’s feudal past.
Our journey then takes us to the magnificent Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This ancient fortified village is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has served as the backdrop for numerous famous films, including Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and the TV series Game of Thrones. You will have time to explore the kasbah and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
Afterwards, we continue towards the city of Ouarzazate. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to stop and visit the renowned cinema studios and the impressive Taourirt Kasbah, another significant historical fortification.
Finally, in the late afternoon, we begin our scenic return journey to Marrakesh. Your driver will drop you off at your accommodation, concluding your memorable day trip to the Atlas Mountains and desert kasbahs.
