Day 1: Marrakesh – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley/Gorges                                                                                                                                                                    Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your Marrakesh accommodation. We’ll set off towards the High Atlas Mountains, ascending the winding Tizi-n-Tichka pass (2260m). Prepare for breathtaking panoramic views and photo opportunities of the diverse landscapes and traditional Berber villages dotting the mountainsides. Our first major stop is the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This incredible fortified village has served as a backdrop for many Hollywood blockbusters. After a guided exploration and lunch (at your own expense), we continue towards Ouarzazate, often dubbed the “Hollywood of Africa.” We’ll then journey onward, potentially passing through Skoura’s palm groves and the fragrant Roses Valley (Kelaa M’Gouna), before reaching the stunning Dades Valley or Todra Gorges area for our overnight stay in a comfortable hotel or riad, including dinner.

Day 2: Dades Valley/Gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes) After breakfast, we’ll explore the dramatic beauty of the region further. If we stayed in Dades, we’ll admire its unique rock formations before heading to the magnificent Todra Gorges, a massive trench with towering red cliffs. Take some time to walk and soak in the grandeur of this natural wonder. Following lunch (own expense) en route, our journey continues towards the Sahara Desert. We’ll pass through Erfoud, known for its fossil discoveries. As we approach Merzouga, the landscape transforms into the iconic rolling dunes of Erg Chebbi. Here, you’ll switch to a camel for an unforgettable trek into the heart of the desert. Witness a mesmerizing sunset over the vast expanse of sand before arriving at your traditional Berber desert camp. Enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner under a canopy of stars, often accompanied by the rhythmic beats of local Berber music around a campfire.

Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Cedar Forests (Azrou) – Ifrane – Fes                           Wake up early to experience the magic of a Saharan sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes – a truly breathtaking sight. After breakfast at the camp, you’ll camel trek back to Merzouga (or take a 4×4, depending on the camp/tour option) to meet your driver. Today, our journey takes us north towards Fes. We’ll travel through the expansive Ziz Valley, famous for its lush palm groves contrasting with the arid surroundings. We continue through Midelt, a town nestled in the Middle Atlas Mountains, where we’ll likely stop for lunch (own expense). The drive then takes us through the fragrant cedar forests near Azrou, where you might spot playful Barbary macaque monkeys. We’ll also pass through Ifrane, a charming town known for its alpine-style architecture, often referred to as “Morocco’s Little Switzerland.” Finally, in the late afternoon or early evening, we’ll arrive in Fes, where your memorable 3-day desert adventure concludes with a drop-off at your accommodation.
