Tour Highlights:
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakesh Welcome to Morocco! Upon your arrival at Marrakesh Menara Airport, your driver will greet you and transfer you to your hotel or riad. The rest of the day is yours to settle in and perhaps take your first steps into the lively Djemaa el-Fna square.
Day 2: Marrakesh → Atlas Mountains → Dades Valley Our journey begins as we depart Marrakesh and ascend into the High Atlas Mountains via the dramatic Tizi-n-Tichka pass. We’ll stop at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, a stunning fortified village. After exploring, we continue through Ouarzazate, the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs,” and the Roses Valley, arriving in the beautiful Dades Valley for our overnight stay.
Day 3: Dades Valley → Todra Gorges → Merzouga Desert After breakfast, we head to the spectacular Todra Gorges for a walk beneath its towering canyon walls. We then travel through the Ziz Valley, known for its vast palm groves, arriving at the edge of the Sahara in Merzouga. Here, you’ll embark on a memorable camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes to witness a stunning sunset before settling into a traditional desert camp for the night.
Day 4: Merzouga → Ziz Valley → Middle Atlas → Fes Wake early to see the Sahara sunrise. After breakfast, we begin our journey north towards Fes. We travel through the expansive Ziz Valley, cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, and pass through Ifrane, known as “Morocco’s Little Switzerland,” before arriving in the ancient imperial city of Fes for your overnight stay.
Day 5: Guided Tour of Fes Today is dedicated to exploring Fes, Morocco’s oldest cultural and spiritual center. With a local guide, you will navigate the labyrinthine streets of the Fes el-Bali medina, visiting the famous tanneries, the Bou Inania Medersa, and the Al-Qarawiyyin University. Discover bustling souks, intricate craftsmanship, and the rich history of this captivating city.
Day 6: Fes → Meknes → Volubilis → Chefchaouen Departing Fes, our first stop is the imperial city of Meknes to see the monumental Bab Mansour gate. We then travel to the nearby ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site with impressive mosaics. Our journey continues north into the Rif Mountains to the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen, where you’ll spend the night.
Day 7: Chefchaouen → Rabat → Casablanca → Marrakesh After exploring the blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen, we drive to Rabat, the modern capital of Morocco. Here, we’ll visit key sites like the Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of the Udayas. We then continue via Casablanca for a photo stop at the magnificent Hassan II Mosque before completing our grand loop and returning to Marrakesh in the evening.
Day 8: Departure from Marrakesh After breakfast, and depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time for last-minute souvenir shopping. Your driver will then transfer you to Marrakesh Menara Airport for your departure, concluding your essential Morocco tour.
